You may be eligible for a range of funding and subsidy options to assist with the cost of hearing services and hearing aids. Some of these options are outlined below:

For clients with NDIS funding, Canberra Audiology provides services, including support for self-managed plans. In addition, your funding is tailored to your approved NDIS plan.

To learn more, visit the NDIS website or speak with your NDIS coordinator.

For example, the Australian Government Hearing Services Program provides subsidised hearing services and devices to eligible Australians. Eligible individuals include pensioners, Australian Defence Force members, and veterans. In addition, Canberra Audiology can assist you in accessing these services.

Furthermore, Medicare offers rebates for audiology services when you have a referral from a GP, ENT specialist, paediatrician, or neurologist. A referral is required for each visit.

Rebates are available for:

  • Pure tone audiometry (hearing tests)
  • Impedance testing
  • Speech testing
  • Consultations under Chronic Care Plans

Also, Medicare provides rebates for cochlear implant mapping and under programs like Chronic Disease Management, Better Start for Children and Helping Children with Autism.

Many private health insurers provide rebates for audiology services and hearing devices under extras cover. Although Canberra Audiology does not process claims on your behalf, we provide a detailed invoice that you can submit directly to your insurer.

In addition, we recommend contacting your health fund before your appointment to confirm your level of cover and eligibility.

For people with disability in the workplace, the JobAccess Scheme helps you access assistive devices and workplace modifications. While hearing aids themselves are not covered, you may receive funding for hearing aid accessories such as Bluetooth streaming devices and compatible workplace technology.
