Frequently Asked Questions

Your appointment will be with an audiologist and you may talk to them about any hearing related concerns, such as hearing loss, processing speed, tinnitus or hearing aiding. You may have a hearing check performed or try a pair of the latest hearing aids to see what they are like. All obligation free.

Services that are not included for the Open Day are ear wax removal, ear impression taking and children’s hearing assessments.

There is no cost for seeing an audiologist on the Open Day, unless you would like ear wax removal or ear impression taking.

Yes! We happy to see any adult in the clinic.

We require that your full name, phone number, date of birth and email address are provided in order to attend the Open Day.

We have two options:

  1. You can organise with your audiologist to borrow the hearing aids for a few days. Due to the value of the hearing aids, credit card details held securely will be required, as well as your home address.
  2. You could enter a long trial period (up to one month) with Canberra Audiology. There is no cost for Hearing Services Program participants. For full terms and conditions please speak with your audiologist or call reception on (02) 6156 4474.

For this event we will have Phonak Infinio hearing aids available. The style is a RIC (receiver in canal) type, as this is suitable for most people.

The Phonak Infinio was released late 2024. Our audiologists have found this model to be one of the most effective, especially in background noise, to date!

What Happens on an Open Day?

Step 1: Come in at your appointment time to speak with the audiologist about your hearing concerns, have a hearing check and perhaps try on some of our latest hearing aids.

Step 2: Either relax in our clinic with a coffee and cake, or make your way to our local cafe, EQ Cafe, and enjoy a coffee on us while you try our the hearing aids in a noisier environment.

Step 3: Return to the clinic for your follow up with your audiologist. Have a chat about your experience.

Step 4: Book any further appointments that you wish and pick up your free info bag!

Alternatively, there will be 1-2 audiologists available for a quick chat without an appointment. However, please be aware that if you have many questions or need more than 5 minutes to discuss your concern, it is best to make an appointment time so that we can help you most appropriately.

The hearing aids that are available for trial during the Open Day are supplied by Swiss brand, Phonak. With over 75 years of experience, they are at the forefront of hearing aid technology. The most recent development to come to the market is “artificial intelligence”, which offers superior speech clarity and hearing in background noise. See the clips below for a demonstrations of the AI feature off (first video) and the AI feature on (second video) in a noisy cafe.
